Westminster City School is just one of the projects which make up Westminster City Council’s £152 million Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, which sees the rebuilding or refurbishment of all secondary schools in their control. Originally, the school consisted of six buildings in total, providing a GIA of 7143m². The new build accommodation has added 2166m² over four floors, and provides additional space for: main school reception, ICT department, improved sixth form provision, sports hall and changing area, drama studio, music department, roof garden, staff offices. The new building has enabled the school to increasepupil numbers from 777 to 850. By positioning the new building at the front of theschool, the facilities available to the community are easily accessible and include ICT suites, a conference centre and sports provision. This has not only enhanced the educational tools available to pupils but has also improved the school’s integration with, and provision for, local residents.
